Samex contains melatonin, a natural hormone produced by the epiphysis (pineal gland), structurally linked to serotonin. S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine (SAMe) is a naturally occurring ubiquitous amino acid. It is involved in important biological processes, critical in the formation of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system including serotonin, melatonin, histamine and catecholamines (dopamine, noradrenaline, adrenaline).
It contributes to the reduction of the time required to fall asleep. This effect is obtained by taking 1 mg of melatonin before bedtime (melatonin)¹
